California Wine Month

September is California Wine Month, which is the state’s annual harvest celebration. California is the fourth largest wine producer in the world and the origin of about 81% of U.S. made wines.

Now in its 16th year, the month aims to highlight California’s rich history of winemaking – spanning 250 years! – as well as its innovative community of vintners and growers who have overwhelmingly adopted sustainable and green farming practices.

Each year during this month, California’s wineries, growers and regional associations host special events and tastings as a way to celebrate the annual harvest. This year has been no exception, despite COVID-19, where many have seamlessly pivoted to host their events in a virtual setting.

To further help spotlight this month of appreciation for great California wines, we’re featuring three special wines we recommend our customers try. Please read on for our selections.

  • Trentadue La Storia Cabernet Sauvignon. From Sonoma Alexander Valley. This single estate cabernet is an excellent wine for people looking to step outside the Napa Valley.
  • Ron Rubin Russian River Pinot Noir. Family owned and operated within the Russian River Valley in Sonoma. This pinot noir over delivers for the price point at only $19.99 a bottle.
  • St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc. Typically with Napa Valley, people think of Cabernet Sauvignon but this white varietal does very well within the confines of Napa Valley.
