Happy National Beer Day, everyone! This national holiday is celebrated every year on April 7, the day that the Cullen-Harrison Act was enacted in 1933 legalizing the sale of beer and wine of low alcohol content in the United States. When signing the act, President Franklin D. Roosevelt famously remarked, “I think this would be a good time for a beer.”

Words couldn’t ring truer during today’s difficult times. Regardless of what beer you drink today to celebrate, let’s be sure to all raise our glasses to thank those who locally brew beer in our area.

Here, at Wine ConneXtion, we toast all local breweries – a big #virtualcheers from us to you. With many tasting rooms closed during this time, several hard-to-get craft beers are being released to us to sell in our store. Here’s just a few that are available right now – all can be purchased with convenient curbside pickup:

Ten Bends, Northern Heights Double IPA. Northern Heights is brewed with wheat and oats, then double dry-hopped with Mosaic and Citra hops. It’s the result of an evolution of craft brewing that began in a shed in the northern woods of Vermont and has culminated in a definitive and well-balanced ale that will take your perception of a Double IPA to new heights. ABV is 8.0%.

Honest Weight, Gate 37. This Belgian Grisette style beer is brewed with raw buckwheat and malted red winter wheat. It’s straw yellow, with a nice round mouthfeel that finishes bright and dry. Honest Weight Artisan Beer was founded by two best friends to bring fresh, quality beer to Orange, MA and beyond. ABV is 4.8%.

Barreled Souls, Continuum Double IPA. Continuum is an American Imperial IPA style beer brewed by Barreled Souls Brewing Company in Saco, ME. Gold in color, the taste is berry, lemon, floral hops and straw. ABV is 8.0%.

Radiant Pig Craft Beers, Save The Robots East Coast IPA. A fresh take of the style of East Coast IPAs. This hazy, unfiltered gem has juicy, tropical, flavors that span the hop multiverse. It’s a big IPA that drinks easy whether you’re a human or a disco-breaking, beer-swilling robot. ABV is 7.0%.

Finback Brewery, Floating Future American IPA. Bitter, dank, and hoppy. Filled with Chinook and Columbus hops. Finback Brewery is passionate about ingredients, wood aging and brewing the best possible beers they can. ABV 7.2%.

Exhibit A Brewing Company, Mindset Project: Azacca IPA. Mindset Project is an exploration of ingredients. An India Pale Ale, this version features Azacca hops which add notes of pineapple, melon and Bosc pear. ABV 6.0%.
