Portuguese wines have been growing in popularity and for good reason. They’re excellent and affordable. We will be featuring these wines with our special guest pourer, Augusto Gabriel. A Portuguese native and world-class wine expert, he has traveled throughout all the Portuguese wine regions for the past 20 years and takes the mystery out of these unfamiliar varietal-wines. We will also be serving Portuguese dishes to bring it all together and to explore these amazing new wines. Don’t miss a chance to learn and enjoy the wonderful bounty of Portuguese wine country. List of Portuguese Wines 2018 Castello D’Alba Reserva White, Douro Region. Complex aroma with a mineral character balanced with tropical and citrus fruits, white wild flowers, as well as discreet and evocative toasty hints of oak. Full and creamy on the palate, with body, freshness and a very long finish. 2018 Foral “Alvarinho,” Vinho Verde Region. Wine with great balance and style. Offers aromas of citrus, green apple and floral scents with a tropical background. The palate is full bodied and voluminous with a fresh, vibrant acidity. 2018 Sand Creek “Red Blend,” Setubal Region. Made from selected grapes, this oak aged red blend, is full bodied with expressive fruit and silky texture. 2017 Quinta da Cassa Reserva Red, Douro Region. This is an extremely concentrated wine. A sweet, warm aroma, where blackberry, rock rose and floral notes balance with touches of oak. On the palate, the acidity and ripe, fullbodied tannins make this a true Douro wine with a lasting finish. 2018 Castello D’Alba Reserva Red, Douro Region. Very complex, intense aroma conveying wild berries and rock rose. Spices and red fruit very fresh and elegant floral notes of violet. Sweet and full on the palate, with very soft, polished tannins and a long, warm finish. 2018 Vinha da Valentina “Red Blend,” Setubal Region. Dark red with a touch of wood, hints of very ripe red fruit. Full and complex, this wine has well rounded tannins and a pleasant lengthy finish. 2016 Dona Maria “Amantis” Reserva Red, Alentejo Region. Beautiful, dark ruby color. Very complex mix of ripe raspberries and blackberries. Rich and spicy with red berry flavors, very elegant, silky tannins and very long finish. 2017 Van Zellers Red, Douro Valley. As traditionally found with old vine blends, this wine is complex and well structured. The aromas are predominantly dark red fruit and wild berries.
